Indian Head Massage was brought to Britain in the 1970's by Narendra Mehta an osteopath and massage therapist.
The treatment covers massage of the face, scalp, arms, hands, neck, shoulders and upper back.
Indian Head Massage is great for relaxation, supporting mental and physical stress relief. It is great for circulation in the head and neck and improves lymphatic drainage, encouraging the removal of toxins and waste products.
Conditions that can be benefited from Indian Head Massage include headaches, sinusitis, facial spasm, depression, anxiety, insomnia, migraines, dizziness, eye strain, frozen shoulder, neck and upper back pain.
I do this treatment without oils and through clothing, whilst the client is lying on the treatment couch to maximise relaxation.

At your first appointment we will complete a consultation form together. This allows me to check for any contraindications, and tailor the treatment to what you need. We will discuss any aims that you may have and you can ask any questions that you may have. I will also discuss my data protection form and ask you to sign in agreement to this.
Please see subsequent treatments for what will happen for the rest of your treatment.
Your first appointment should last approximately 1 hour 15 minutes - taking into account the time taken completing the initial consultation form and any discussion following the treatment.
We will start by discussing how you felt following your previous treatment and talk about any changes in health or lifestyle and check what you are wanting from the treatment that day.
I will then ask you to remove your footwear and ask you to lie down on my treatment couch. I will ensure that you feel comfortable with pillows, supporting bolster for your legs and back and with a choice of blankets. I have relaxing music playing, however this is optional.
I encourage clients to relax and allow themselves to switch off for the time that they are with me. This does sometimes take them some practice! There may be times during your treatment that you wish to comment or ask a question, which is of course fine.
The treatment starts off with me using relaxation and grounding techniques to help your body and mind to relax. I start the treatment on the face, moving onto the scalp, neck, down the arms to the hands.
I then ask you to turn over, I will remove the pillows for you to place your face into the face hole on the treatment couch. I then work on the shoulders and around the shoulder blades.
Finally, you can turn onto your back once more, for some final relaxation as the treatment comes to a close. I will then leave you for a few minutes to allow you time to yourself.
After the treatment, you will have the opportunity to sit for a few moments with a glass of water, please feel free to ask any questions or give any comments regarding your treatment.
Your appointment should last approximately 1 hour - taking into account the time taken completing the review form and any discussion before and after the treatment.
